BWSF Supports Philly Launch of Mama LaVerne’s Chicken-N-Waffles Combo Line!
Black Women in Sport Foundation asks supporters to show up and show out
Philadelphia, PA (August 23, 2021) – Black Women in Sport Foundation (BWSF) long-time friend Donna Richardson, one of the original “Buns of Steel” fitness gurus and the only council member who served under President Bush and President Obama and her mother, affectionately known as Mama LaVerne, launched Mama LaVerne's Chicken, Waffles and Pancake Seasoning and Baking Mixes in the midst of the pandemic, loss of loved ones, family illnesses, Donna’s injury (she is learning how to walk again), uncertainties and hardship. They stepped out on faith and mixed love and legacy into Mama’s mixes. Donna says “because of our faith in God and perseverance we weren’t deterred but more determined to enrich people’s connections through food for the soul.”
Mama LaVerne’s Chicken-N-Waffles Combo Mix made with love and legacy - which includes Chicken Seasoning, Waffle & Pancake Mix launches in Philadelphia with special guest appearances August 26 – 28, 2021 at ShopRite SuperStores and Fresh Grocers’ around the city.
There will be a press event at the first launch date on August 26th from 10am – 12pm at the ShopRite of Cheltenham, where Donna Richardson Joyner, CEO of Mama LaVerne Foods Inc. with her 81 years young mother LaVerne Richardson, who inspired the product line and Jeff Brown, President of Brown’s Super Stores; they will all be on hand to do a cooking demo and sampling the dish. Other appearances will follow in various stores operated by the Brown family noted below.
Introduction of Mama LaVerne’s Chicken, Waffles and Pancake mix:
August 26, 2021 at 10:00am-12pm at ShopRite of Cheltenham, 2385 Cheltenham Avenue, Wyncote, PA.
On 8/26, BWSF group photo will be taken with Ms. Richardson & Mama LaVerne.

BWSF is promoting the Philadelphia launch of Mama LaVerne’s Chicken, Waffles and Pancake product line among its supporters by encouraging them to rock their BWSF gear, attend an appearance, purchase the Mama LaVerne’s products, and post a photo on social media holding the products (and if you’re lucky, posing with Donna Richardson and Mama LaVerne). Mother and daughter are no strangers to entrepreneurship. Her mother has been an entrepreneur with a tax business for over 30 years. Donna has been a leader and innovator since age 10 when she launched her crocheting/knitting business.
